Hello, my name is Shreya Sawant, I’m 26 years old, and I’m honored to represent India at Miss Europe Continental 2025. I currently live in San Francisco, California, where I balance a career as a software engineer with my passion for modeling and pageantry. My journey reflects a blend of intellect and creativity!
– Can you tell us something about your childhood and your family? How have they influenced the person you are today?
I grew up in Mumbai, one of India’s most vibrant and culturally diverse cities. Growing up there taught me resilience, adaptability, and appreciation for diversity, qualities that still define me today. My parents instilled in me the values of education, empathy, and perseverance. Watching their dedication helped me understand that success is never accidental, it’s built on discipline and hard work. They’ve always encouraged me to pursue both my analytical and artistic sides, which is why I’ve never felt the need to choose between technology and creativity.
– What did you study, and how do you think your academic background has prepared you for life and for the world of fashion?
I graduated with honors from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where I double-majored in Computer Science and Mathematics with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence.This rigorous academic training instilled in me strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills all of which translate beautifully into fashion and pageantry. The world of tech sharpened my logical mind, while fashion fuels my creativity and together they help me approach challenges with both intelligence and imagination.
– How did your interest in fashion and beauty pageants begin? Was there a specific moment or experience that inspired you to follow this path?
Fashion has been my first language of self-expression since childhood. I grew up sketching designs and dreaming of becoming a fashion designer. Watching international pageants on TV sparked my fascination with the idea of elegance meeting purpose. As I began my professional journey in technology, I realized that I didn’t want to lose touch with my creative side. I started modeling to rediscover that passion, and one opportunity led to another culminating in being crowned Miss Bharat USA 2024. That experience reaffirmed that we don’t have to choose one path; we can create our own intersection between intellect and art.
– You have a strong presence in front of the camera. Is that something you’ve always had, or did you develop it over time?
I believe it’s something that has always been within me an innate sense of connection with the lens. For me, the camera is not just a device; it’s a mirror that captures emotion, confidence, and story. With time, I’ve refined that natural comfort into intentional expression understanding angles, energy, and storytelling through posture and eyes. Every photo or runway moment is an opportunity to translate inner emotion into visual art.
– You’re very active on social media. How important do you think it is for a model or pageant contestant to build a genuine connection with their followers?
Social media today is more than a platform, it’s a powerful voice. I see it as a bridge between creativity and community, where influence can truly inspire impact. For a model or titleholder, it’s not just about sharing beautiful visuals; it’s about using visibility with purpose. Through my page, I share not only my modeling and pageant journey but also advocate for environmental sustainability, something I’m deeply passionate about. I’ve collaborated with slow-fashion designers and charity-led runway shows that promote ethical production and conscious consumption. I believe authenticity shines when your message aligns with your values, and through social media, I hope to encourage others to see that style and sustainability can coexist beautifull
– How do you balance your private life with the professional commitments that come with working in fashion and pageantry?
Balance begins with awareness, knowing when to give your all and when to pause. I set clear boundaries, prioritize self-care, and protect my mental health as much as my physical well-being. Both the tech and fashion industries can be demanding, but I remind myself that rest and reflection are also forms of progress. I see life as a symphony balance comes from knowing when to play softly and when to rise to your crescendo.
– What does it mean to you to represent India in an international competition like Miss Europe Continental?
It’s one of the greatest honors of my life. Representing India on a global platform fills me with pride and gratitude. India is a land of timeless heritage, vibrant colors, and powerful women from ancient queens to modern achievers.Through this platform, I hope to bring the essence of my culture to the world our strength, our compassion, and our belief that beauty is not just seen, but felt in how we uplift others.
– What are your personal and professional goals for the future? How do you think this experience can help you achieve them?
Personally, I want to continue evolving into a woman who inspires others to pursue their dreams fearlessly to prove that intellect and beauty can coexist powerfully. Professionally, I aspire to bridge fashion and technology through sustainable innovation creating platforms that make fashion more ethical and inclusive. Miss Europe Continental gives me a global voice one that can amplify the change I wish to see, combining grace, intelligence, and purpose on and off the stage.
