More Than a Model: Andrea Perron on Confidence, Creativity, and Courage

Hi! I’m Andrea Perron, a French Canadian model and multi-faceted artist! Modeling has followed me ever since I’ve been a child. Although I only started taking it seriously around a year ago. The idea of becoming a model came back around when I began working on my self-confidence. My growth made me glow and I transformed into a woman I’ve always wanted to be. Now that I had gained the confidence, becoming a model was possible. Without one’s self-confidence and self-work, modeling becomes a burden rather than a passion. It is critical and essential to work on yourself before embarking on this journey. Without working on your self-image, you risk sabotaging your own experience and become susceptible to toxic tendencies such as comparing yourself to others. Build yourself so strongly that all you exude is light, positivity, and confidence.

Entering the fashion industry has introduced me to different types of artistry such as, DJing, acting, painting, and even starting my own business. It has opened the door to a whole new world for me. The more I explored different horizons, the more people would claim, “if you never focus on one thing, you’ll never master anything.” I disagree. When you enter this industry, it is important to build more than one skill to attract more opportunities. As this industry is so unpredictable and doesn’t guarantee stability, working on numerous projects prevents you from depending on only one source of income. It is also very possible to master more than one skill. The secret is to build on everything slowly but surely. There’s so much you can do in modeling, so in the meantime, work on your other projects. Take it a day at a time, follow your heart, and work on what you want to work on at the moment. I’ve become incredibly happy and peaceful ever since I’ve been pursuing my passions and goals. I fully believe that everyone is meant to be pursuing what they’re the most passionate about. If you have that fire in you to succeed, you will. I dropped out of school to focus on my goals full-time. School will always be there, take risks, invests, and enjoy your life. Most importantly, never let someone say that you can’t do it all, because you can.
