Hello everyone, ’m Priyadarshi Dowlut, aged 30. I am representing Mauritius. I work as a yoga instructor and healer, combining mind and body therapy during my sessions and promoting the concept of self-love & holistic wellness, while working towards women empowerment. I’m a trained dancer, actor and model, been in the industry since more than 10 years in Mauritius and India. I’m very passionate as an artist, and my main goal is to live my dreams as an artist and also to open my wellness center once I complete my diploma in Psychology.
– Being originally from Mauritius gives you a unique identity: how much do you feel like an ambassador of your culture when you participate in international events?
Being from Mauritius absolutely gives me a unique identity, and I do feel a strong sense of responsibility, as well as pride, when representing my country on the international stage. Mauritius is a small island, but it’s incredibly rich in culture, diversity, and history. Not many people are familiar with it beyond the beaches, so I see every international event as an opportunity to share our story: our harmonious multiculturalism, our languages, our food, and our resilience as a nation. In that way, I naturally become an ambassador, not just formally, but by simply being who I am and carrying my roots with me. It’s both an honor and a joy to showcase where I come from.
– What role did your family or cultural background play in your journey into the world of fashion and beauty pageants?
Growing up in Mauritius, a place where different cultures blend so harmoniously, I was constantly surrounded by vibrant colors, traditional attire, celebrations, and a deep appreciation for beauty in all its forms. My family, especially my mother, taught me confidence, elegance, and the value of self-expression from a young age. And I’m grateful to my grandfather who taught me French and English language, thanks to him I’m bilingual and that helps me a lot on platforms. His teachings really helped into shaping my opinions, and today when I perform on international platforms I don’t only focus on the aspect of beauty but it is definitely beauty with a purpose…I definitely have strong opinions and really want to create a change and be impactful to women around the world.
How would you define your personal style, on and off the catwalk?
On the catwalk, my style is bold, elegant, and expressive, I love embracing the artistry of fashion and becoming part of the designer’s vision. It’s a space where I channel confidence and creativity, sometimes stepping outside my comfort zone to bring a concept to life. Off the catwalk, my personal style is more relaxed, and a little ‘tomboyish’, but still stylish lol. I try to mix and match pieces, dive into creative, combining comfort and colors and style. Whether dressed up or down, I always aim to stay true to myself, grounded, yet open to evolution.
You already have experience in competitions and fashion shows: how did it all begin for you?
It all began quite humbly, I was always drawn to fashion and performance from a young age, but I never imagined myself on a runway or stage. I used to dance as a teenager, and then started to perform professionally as a dancer on local platforms, through this I started to get modeling offers when I was 17 years old, part of me was really new to the industry and shy, but I took up the challenge and started to build up confidence. I went on to pursue my diploma in Performing Arts in India, did theatre acting there, came back to Mauritius to complete my Iata Diploma and worked in the Aviation Industry while I was still modeling in Mauritius. And then while walking for a fashion show 3 years ago, the director of an organization spotted me and asked me if I would like to participate in pageants, to which I said yes but I wasn’t expecting it to work out and move this fast, I did fill up the form & sent it and the rest worked in divine timing I would say & I’m grateful to the universe, throughout the journey I won crowns but also hearts of people. People got to know me for my opinions and views and I would never miss a chance to create a change & promote self love all around the world.
– Have you had a mentor, an icon, or someone who inspired you in this world?
Yes, I’ve definitely had role models, but one person who has always deeply inspired me is Princess Diana. She embodied grace, compassion, and quiet strength—qualities that go far beyond physical beauty. What touched me most about her was how she used her platform to make a difference, to advocate for the voiceless, and to connect with people from all walks of life with genuine empathy. In the world of fashion and pageantry, where appearance often takes center stage, she reminded the world that true elegance comes from character. She continues to inspire me to stay grounded, lead with heart, and use any spotlight I have to uplift others.
– What does it mean to you to represent Mauritius on an international stage?
Representing Mauritius on an international stage is both a great honor and a deep responsibility. Coming from a small island nation with such rich cultural diversity, I feel proud to showcase who we are to the world, not just our natural beauty, but the strength, warmth, and unity of our people. It’s a chance to break stereotypes, to tell our story with authenticity, and to show that even from a small place, big dreams and powerful voices can rise. For me, it’s not just about being seen, it’s about making Mauritius known for the values we stand for: resilience, kindness, and cultural pride.
– How are you preparing for this new experience with Miss Europe Continental?
Preparing for Miss Europe Continental is a journey that goes far beyond the physical aspect. I’m focusing on building both inner and outer confidence. That means maintaining a balanced lifestyle, staying active and healthy, but also working on mindset, communication skills, and personal growth. I’m learning more about European culture and global issues to be well-informed, and I’m also deepening my understanding of what I represent as a Mauritian woman. I want to walk into this experience not just polished, but purposeful, to connect, to inspire, and to represent my country with authenticity and pride.
– What’s the most important advice you’d give to a girl who dreams of following this same path?
The most important advice I’d give is: believe in your worth before anyone else does. This path, whether in modeling, pageantry, or any public platform, can be challenging. There will be moments of doubt, comparison, and rejection. But if you stay true to your values, keep growing, and never lose sight of who you are, you’ll find your place. Don’t rush the journey. Work hard, stay humble, and surround yourself with people who uplift you. And most of all, remember: beauty fades, but confidence, kindness, and purpose are what truly make you shine.
Thank you so much for shared with us some of you. We are so glad to have you! See you soon in Naples.
